El presidente del Gobierno en funciones, Pedro Sánchez, ha recordado que el PSOE se presentó a las elecciones porque quería "confirmar un Gobierno liderado por el Partido Socialista abierto, progresista" incorporando "independientes de reconocido prestigio". Sánchez ha zanjado que es la línea que van a seguir trabajando……. Asimismo, el jefe del ejecutivo en funciones ha instado a "todos" los partidos políticos a "reconsiderar sus estrategias" tras las elecciones del 26 de mayo, pero no ha desvelado si aceptaría la entrada de Podemos en un Gobierno liderado por el PSOE. Sánchez ha insistido en que los españoles "han hablado cuatro veces" en las elecciones generales y las posteriores autonómicas, municipales y europeas, dejando claro que "quieren que el PSOE lidere sus Gobiernos"
